Volunteers are needed to help clean up Downtown Bangor before the Big Dig.

Spring in Maine is Beautiful, Once Indoor and Outdoor Spring Cleaning is Done

Spring can be a beautiful time in Maine. The leaves and flowers start adding some color to the landscape.

The grass gets really green, and the ice melts, revealing sparkling blue water.

We open our windows to breathe in the cleanest air in the country.

But let's be honest, once the snow is gone, the landscape isn't immediately pretty until someone does some cleaning.

Downtown Bangor, Maine, Needs Volunteers for a Spring Cleaning Party

Downtown Bangor is no exception, so a good Spring cleaning is needed to make it beautiful again.

Saturday, volunteers are needed to help with spring cleaning, and there are several ways to help:

  • Picking up trash
  • Painting over graffiti
  • Removing invasive species
  • Unplugging winter lights
  • Replacing lightbulbs in the street lights

I'm sure there will be plenty of other ways to help, as well.

If someone plans to join the Spring cleaning party, they can pre-register online, and organizers will assign a task.

But if you wake up on Saturday morning and decide you want to join in, that's cool, too!

Bangor, Maine, Spring Cleaning and Adopt-a-Garden Projects Will Beautify Downtown

Everyone should meet up at Norumbega Parkway, off Central Street, on Saturday, April 25, at 9 am. The project should be done by noon.

Bring your work gloves and, if you have a favorite rake, bring it along too.

The clean-up is in preparation for the Adopt-a-Garden Big Dig Week, starting May 16th, when businesses, organizations, and individuals can adopt one (or more) of the 150 available spaces downtown to plant a decorative garden.
