Maine State Police have charged a man from Connecticut for a murder in the town of Corinth.

Maine Murder Suspect Arrested in Connecticut

Jawon Owens, 27, of East Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested by members of the Hartford Police Department on an arrest warrant out of Maine. He's accused of killing Scott Roberts, 46, of Glenburn.

Owens is charged with:

  • Murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm.

He is currently being held at the Hartford Correctional Facility, pending extradition back to Maine.

The charges stem from an incident on September 21st in Corinth, Maine that left one man injured and another deceased on Main Street.

Troopers responded to reports of gunshots during the early morning hours and found Michael McGregor, 32, of Skowhegan outside of a residence. Troopers provided life-saving measures until a Life Flight helicopter arrived to taken him a local hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

When the Troopers entered a nearby apartment, they found Roberts, who was deceased.

Detectives and members of the Evidence Response Team were called to the scene and Mr. Roberts was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta.

An autopsy determined that Roberts died of a gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide.

Maine State Police Seek Information About a Murder and Assault in Corinth

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says there is no ongoing risk to the public, but the investigation remains active.
