A record-breaking number of chicken pox cases have been reported during the 2014-15 school year, according to the Portland Press Herald.

The Press Herald reports there have been 84 reported cases of small pox, nearly double the number from the previous school year.

57 of those cases involved unvaccinated or under-vaccinated children.

Every Maine county, except Washington County, has reported chicken pox.

Maine has one of the highest opt-out rates in the U.S. when it comes to parents deciding whether or not to get their children vaccinated.
