Downeast Scenic Railroad is once again taking families on an autumn adventure with their Pumpkin Trains.

There's something for everyone during these hour-long excursions. Mom and Dad will get in some beautiful leaf-peeping, and each child on the train gets to pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. They can then decorate it on the way back to the depot with colorful stickers. (Mom and Dad can help too, if the kids will let them)

The Pumpkin Trains will run this Saturday and Sunday, October 19th and 20th, and will depart at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. from the boarding platform at 245 Main Street in Ellsworth.  Admission is $17 for adults, $15 for seniors and active military, and $9 for children ages 12 and under. These trains fill up fast so reservations are suggested and can be made through the Downeast Scenic Railroad's website or by calling 1-866-449-RAIL (7245).

The Downeast Scenic Railroad is an all-volunteer not-for-profit excursion railroad and is a project of the Downeast Rail Heritage Preservation Trust. They offer weekend excursions aboard vintage rail equipment traveling on the historic Maine Shore Line/Calais Branch rail line in an effort to keep the excitement of rail travel alive.
