Police say the driver of a box truck that crashed into a school bus in Waterville Tuesday was blinded by the glare of the sun.

The box truck, operated by Dawson Trask, 18, of Clinton, rear-ended the stopped bus around 8 a.m. on Western Avenue, police said.

The bus was carrying 13 Waterville-area students, ages 5 to 9, centralmaine.com reported Tuesday. Some of the students complained of pain, but no serious injuries were reported.

Trask was transported to the hospital with a leg laceration.

The windows on the emergency exit of the school bus were broken in the crash, and the box truck sustained heavy front-end damage.
