A man who reportedly became light-headed and fell into the Androscoggin River in Brunswick Friday night remains missing.

Stephen Wines, 27, of Bailey Island was fishing with his brother when he fell in the water, Jeff Nichols, Director of Communications for the Maine Department of Marine Resources, said in a press release Monday afternoon.

Nichols said a witness reported seeing Wines fall from a small, recreational boat at approximately 8:40 p.m.

Lifeflight of Maine, the Maine Marine Patrol, volunteers and local police and firefighters searched for Wines on Saturday, but the search was suspended at 3:30 p.m. as rain moved in.

Maine Marine Patrol resumed their search Monday at 9:30 a.m., using a boat to cover an area from Bay Bridge Landing, where Wines was last seen, to Merrymeeting Bay.

Just after 2 p.m. on Monday, Nichols said searchers were still looking for the man, and if the search continues Tuesday and the weather improves, at least one more boat and a plane will likely be used to look for him.
