Beal College To Hold Auction, Bake Sale For Trooper’s Family
The students and staff at Beal College have a number of fundraisers planned this week, to raise money for Trooper Ben Campbell's family.
Nursing student Jessica Murry told me that she comes from a law enforcement family, and so, as soon as she heard about the accident that claimed the trooper's life, she immediately wanted to find a way to help. Jessica got together with other students and staff members and put together several events that will be held on Thursday.
Some great items will be up for bid during an auction, planned from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the college, 99 Farm Road in Bangor. Among the items up for bid will be Waterfront Concert tickets to Bryan Adams and Alabama, as well as Bar Harbor Whale Watch tickets. Many local businesses have donated gift cards, including Frank's Bake Shop, and Lougee & Frederick's. Moe's BBQ has donated gift cards, but also a catered picnic for 20 people, valued at $220. A variety of sports memorabilia will also be up for bid.
Along with the auction, students will hold a bake sale, with dark chocolate deep dish brownies, whoopie pies, fruit pies, and cheesecake. There's also a quilt raffle. Anyone who wishes to drop off a donation, can find collection jars around the campus. Proceeds from all the events will be given directly to Trooper Campbell's family.
