The City of Bangor is looking for heavy equipment operators, electricians, and others to join their ranks, so they're holding a job fair this afternoon.

What Jobs Do They Have Open?

Two main categories are in need of new employees:

  • Truck drivers/heavy equipment operator positions could include driving a plow truck in the winter and a road construction vehicle in the summer months. A Class B driver's license is required for this position. How cool would that be, riding around in a snow plow during winter storms, keeping the roads safe for drivers?
  • Journeymen or Master Electricians will receive paid training to earn certifications in things like building traffic signals and signal control devices. Again, your job would literally be to help keep Bangor residents safe.

Are There Good Benefits?

Whichever category suits you best, a job with the city of Bangor means great pay and benefits, including:

  • Competitive wages
  • Generous paid time off
  • A retirement plan with contributions from the City
  • Medical insurance with low deductibles and up to 80% of the cost covered
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • Paid long-term disability
  • Availability of overtime

When and Where is the Job Fair?

If you're interested, stop by the Bangor Public Works Department, 530 Maine Avenue today between 3 and 6 pm. Interviews will be given on-the-spot to anyone who meets the minimum requirements. If you can't make it to the job fair today, you can still apply online on the City of Bangor's website.
