Bangor Police Ask for the Public’s Help Locating 2 Theft Suspects
Bangor Police are asking for the public's help locating two people suspected in some devious thefts.
Who Are the Suspects?
Sergeant Jason McAmbley says the man and woman have been identified as Pardelian Muntean 21, and Liana Moldovan, 34.
What Are They Suspected of Doing?
Law enforcement agencies are looking for the pair in connection with a series of theft investigations that have resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in cash being stolen from many different businesses across Maine. Officials say the two people will enter a store and either buy gift cards or ask for large bills, like $100 dollar bills, to be broken into smaller bills. They then distract the employee and allegedly use sleight of hand techniques when passing the cash, in order to deceive the employee. They're obviously good at what they do because police say they've been successfully pulling the con on businesses across Maine and other states since October and leaving with several hundred dollars at each location.
Bangor Police are aware of eight of these incidents in the greater Bangor area in the past two months.
How Do We Report It to Police If We Have Information?
Anyone who thinks they have seen either of these people or who has an idea about where they might be found is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency. Anonymous tips can be called into the Bangor Police Department at 207-947-7382, extension 3, or via the Bangor PD tip411 app.
