A Bangor man, armed with a walking stick, kept police at bay for several hours while barricaded in a Rockland hotel room.

WGME-TV reports police were originally called Saturday evening to the Trade Winds Hotel because a guest was allegedly causing a disturbance.

They returned at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday when Timothy St. Thomas, 61, allegedly threatened staff members at the Trade Winds Hotel when they asked him to leave. St. Thomas allegedly lunged at officers with the walking stick before he locked the door to his room and refused to come out.

Negotiators were unable to get the man to talk to them so a state police tactical team was called in. They breached the door to his room just after 12:30 pm. Sunday and he was arrested. St. Thomas faces multiple charges, including criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and criminal trespass.
