A Bangor man is facing multiple charges after illegal drugs were allegedly found in his Vespa scooter.
Bangor, Maine Man Arrested on Scooter With Illegal Drugs
David Costa, 56, of Bangor was allegedly found with a substantical amount of illegal drugs, according to the Bangor Police Department. He was pulled over while riding a Vespa scooter on Friday, October 3rd, 2025.
Bangor Police say they stopped Costa because the scooter he was riding didn't have a license plate.

When he was first questioned by the police, officials say Costa allegedly provided a false name and date of birth, but eventually produced a Maine ID with his real information.
Officer Curtis Grenier checked Costa's license status and found that his privilege to drive had been revoked, and there was active warrant for his arrest. Once Costa was taken into custody, the police searched the storage compartment of his Vespa.
Bangor, Maine Man Faces Multiple Charges After Drugs Found in His Scooter
Seized in that search were drugs believed to cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin, as well as a large amount of cash.
The scooter was towed to the impound lot and Costa was taken to the Penobscot County Jail for the warrant.
He's additionally charged with:
- Aggravated trafficking of illegal drugs
- Operating under habitual offender status
- Unlawful possession of illegal drugs
- Violation of conditions of release
- Probation violations
