Bangor Police arrested a driver for OUI, and later charged one of his passengers with the same offense.

Bangor, Maine Police Charge a Man with OUI After a Traffic Stop

Edward Garneau, 41, of Bangor, and Jessica Boone, 30, of Stetson, were traveling together when the truck they were traveling in was stopped just before 1:00 am on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Before the night was out, they would both be charged with operating under the influence.

Garneau was driving the truck that the police say was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed on Main Street in Bangor.

While Officer Michael Blakely was performing field sobriety tests on Garneau, Officer Cory Cepelak arrived to assist with the passengers, who officials say appeared far more intoxicated than the driver.

Garneau was arrested and taken to the police station, where an intoxilyzer test allegedly indicated his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle

He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

Passenger in a Vehicle Stopped in Bangor, Maine is Charged with OUI

Boone, allegedly became argumentative when she learned that the truck they had been traveling in was going to be towed.

She and another passenger left the area on foot.

Then, at approximately 2:20 am, Boone drove a separate vehicle to the Bangor Police station, looking for Garneau.

Officer Omar Monarez allegedly observed signs of intoxication and administered field sobriety tests.

Boone was subsequently arrested for OUI and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
