Bangor Police received a disturbing report this week about a possible camera in a public bathroom.

Bangor, Maine, Police Investigate a Report of a Possible Camera in a Public Bathroom

Sergeant Jeremy Brock of Bangor PD confirmed to us that the department received a complaint on Tuesday about a possible camera in a bathroom at Best Buy.

No further details were released due to the ongoing investigation, so there's no confirmation about whether this was a customer bathroom or one used by the employees.

The electronics store is located on Bangor Mall Boulevard.

Concealing a Camera in a Public Place in Maine is a Violation of Privacy

It is unlawful in Maine to intentionally install or use a device to view and/or record someone in a private place without their consent.

According to the Nielsen Group, a misdemeanor Violation of Privacy charge in Maine is punishable by up to 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.

Penalties would increase if the charge is considered criminal.

If this offense includes viewing a person under their clothing, the individual could also be required to register as a sex offender.
