Bangor has a lot of history. And thankfully a lot of our historic buildings are still here, living and breathing and carrying on all these years later.

For those from away. Not all cities have buildings that are 150 years old and still being used. Actually that's pretty rare.

And Bangor's information is preserved by the organization, Bangor Historical Society.

And The Bangor Historical Society has a very clever fundraiser coming up called A Night At The Museum – If Portraits Could Talk.

The event will take place at the Historical Society’s Thomas A Hill House Museum, at 159 Union Street on Wednesday September the 21st between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

This fundraiser will be fun, and is to help the Society Preserve, Protect and Share Bangor’s history.

There will be a mystery puzzle to solve with two levels, and you can enjoy refreshments as you wander the building absorbing the treasures, including new displays to see.

Reminisce if you will. So much to discover

The cost to attend is $25 for Bangor Historical Society members, and non members are welcome at the event for $40 a ticket. Information about joining the Historical Society and the event can be found here.

Back to the theme. If Portraits Could Talk. Imagine what a lumber baron from 150 years ago would have to say about today’s Bangor.

Isn’t it great that he could see all the modern progress that’s been made since his time, but also go see what once was his house, or a friend’s house, and it’s still a house. And it’s still being lived in and kept up.
