The test run was a success! Monday night the new Bangor Drive-In hosted a small group of viewers to act as a test group as the revamped outdoor movie viewing venue got ready to open for business.

The Bangor Drive-In, located on outer Hammond St., will reopen for business after sitting vacant for 30 years on Wednesday Night. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the 400 available spaces are first come-first served. The first night will feature two screens, one showing a double feature of 'Jurassic World' followed by 'Ted 2' or 'Inside Out' with 'The Avengers'.

Don't miss the concessions! Everything from chicken fingers to fried dough and no movie is complete without these delicious treats! Plus the profit from the concessions goes to maintaining the grounds and movie equipment. The more you buy in food, the less the admission prices are.

Currently admission is $27 for a car load for two movies. During the preview night it was clear who the seasoned outdoor movie goers were. They were the ones who backed into their parking spot with blankets and chairs ready to lounge in the back of their pick-up truck. It is worth mentioning they do not allow any roof sitting, even if you have a roof hatch to crawl out, it is not allowed.

Vehicles are parked from small to tall so there are no visibility issues and with newer technology the image on the screen is clearer and better than ever. Sound is not a problem either. No more trying to find a ground speaker that actually works, now you just tune your radio to 88.1 FM or 88.7 FM for sound from the movie. I will also note that although seemingly unrelated we noticed an extremely clear sound signal after turning off WIFI on our phones.

The bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and you can bring quiet dogs. No alcohol or illegal drugs are allowed and shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. View complete list of rules here.

The exit was smooth as well. Row by row the cars exit the opposite side you come in leading to very little confusion or congestion. Overall I think it was a very smooth test run with little, if any problems.
