Bangor Drive-In Opens For The Season This Weekend

The Bangor Drive-In is opening for the season soon.

The Bangor Drive-In has announced their opening date. According to a Facebook announcement, the season opening date is set for May 21. The drive-in will be open Fridays and Saturdays. In summer, the Drive-In is open for movies under the stars Wednesday through Sundays. The opening weekend film lineup includes Godzilla Vs. Kong, Spiral, SCOOB!, and Tom & Jerry. The first Drive-In show of the season features Bon Jovi Saturday night. Florida Georgia Line will perform a Drive-In concert, June 12. Opening the show is Nelly, Chase Rice, and Rachel Wammack.

Last summer, with every concert on the schedule at the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion postponed or canceled due to COVID, the drive-in became an unlikely music venue. The theater hosted three virtual concerts featuring Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, and Metallica.

The Bangor Drive-In, located on Hammond Street in Hermon, reopened in 2015 after a nearly 30-year hiatus. The Drive-In initially opened on June 7, 1950, and closed in 1985 after a thirty-five year run.
