Bangor-Area Residents Arrested In North Carolina Kidnapping
Three Bangor-area residents are among a group of people facing charges in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a juvenile in North Carolina.
Two people from Bangor and one from Brewer, along with a Texan, were hired by a Massachusetts man to travel to North Carolina and kidnap his son. WABI-TV reports Rickey David Thomas, Jr. told the group to take the boy from a relative's home and bring him back to Massachusetts.
Law enforcement got involved when one of the relative's neighbors called a North Carolina Sheriff's Department Wednesday morning and told them a juvenile was seen being taken out of a home. The caller said the youth was in restraints and had been forced into a van with Maine plates.
Authorities tracked the van to Virginia where the following people were arrested:
- Lorraine Colpitts, age 59 of Brewer
- Michael Warman, age 38 of Bangor
- Mickey Mitton, age 32 of Bangor
- Tony Winslow, age 49 of Kingwood, Texas
All four are charged with Felony Restraint and Felony Breaking and Entering. The boy's father, Rickey David Thomas Jr. was arrested Thursday in Massachusetts.
