Adam Wakefield, runner-up from the Voice, and one of People magazine's '10 New Country Artists You Need To Know' will appear at the Springfield Fair this weekend!

I chatted with Adam this week from his home in Nashville and learned some interesting things. Like, Adam is from Plymouth, New Hampshire, so he's a New Englander at heart! He's excited to be coming north, especially since the weather in Music City hasn't been the best lately. And Adam's also excited about doing an outdoor show, after performing at a series of indoor venues in Colorado. He promises that it will be a great outdoor party.

We talked about his time on 'The Voice' and, especially, what it was like to be on Team Blake. Adam said Blake Shelton is a great and funny guy and that they got along great since neither of them takes anything too seriously. Blake's knowledge of music impressed him and his endless quest for the right song for his team members. guess that's why Blake's team keeps winning!

As for the music, Adam describes it as 'southern rock with a country edge.' I asked if he compares his music to Blackberry Smoke, who performed at the Springfield Fair a few years ago and he said that, yes, there are similarities, but his music has more of a country sound than their tunes. Blackberry Smoke was awesome in Springfield, so I can't wait to hear Adam Wakefield. And I'll be there, because I love the fair and I can't wait to hear the music!

If you've never been to a show at the Springfield Fair, it's a good idea to bring a chair. There are some covered seats in the grandstand, but you may find that you'd rather sit closer to the stage, on the track. It's just $15 to get in for the fair and the show, which gets underway at 7:30. I hope you join us!
