Be very careful out there on the roads this evening.

The National Weather Service informs us that isolated snow showers across areas like Deer Isle-Stonington, Mount Desert Island, Winter Harbor and Gouldsboro could produce 2-to-3 inches of snow throughout this Monday night and into Tuesday morning, as a wet cold weather system moves northeast across Maine.

Farther inland, both Ellsworth and Bangor could see between 1-and-2 inches of snow.

A chance of snow showers will remain early Tuesday morning, Election Day, but the skies should clear somewhat in the late morning hours, producing a partly sunny afternoon with high temperatures into the mid-30s.

The good news is that the National Weather Service is predicting a warming trend following Tuesday, with a high temperature of 42 on Wednesday, and then highs nearing 60 degrees right throughout the weekend.

Meanwhile, NWS shows that the average seasonal snowfall in the Bangor area is between 50 and 75 inches of snow and that the 2019-2020 season produced 57 inches.
