It has been two decades since a country act last graced the Super Bowl halftime stage. This occurred arguably with Kid Rock's performance on February 1st, 2004, during the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show—a show notably remembered for the Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson incident. However, without dispute, the year before saw a country act in the spotlight. On January 28th, 2003, Shania Twain, hailed as the Queen of Country Pop, headlined the halftime show alongside Sting and No Doubt.

Despite that, the halftime show has not featured a country act since that time. The absence of country performers has marked a notable shift in the halftime entertainment choices for the Super Bowl. While various artists from diverse genres have taken the stage in the years following, the representation of country music has been notably absent, leaving fans of this genre awaiting a return to the Super Bowl halftime show spotlight.

We believe it's time for a change this year.

To gather opinions, we turned to our Facebook page and posed the question of who you would like to see perform at the halftime show this year. The responses we received were truly fantastic.

Without further ado, here are the outcomes, presenting the top 15 choices:

Jelly Roll: 15.29%

Jason Aldean: 12.74%

Brantley Gilbert: 7.01%

Chris Stapleton: 7.01%

Luke Combs: 7.01%

Morgan Wallen: 3.18%

Garth Brooks: 2.54%

Hank Williams Jr: 2.54%

Eric Church: 2.54%

Luke Bryan: 2.54%

George Strait: 1.91%

Keith Urban: 1.91%

Travis Tritt: 1.91%

Toby Keith: 1.91%

Lainey Wilson: 1.91%

Someone also mentioned that Gabby Barrett would be a great choice, and I wholeheartedly agree.

I believe any of these options would deliver an incredible halftime show. However, Jelly Roll, Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, Chris Stapleton, and Luke Combs emerged as the top vote-getters. There might be a slight recency bias, given that all these artists have performed in Bangor within the past two years. But their talent makes it no surprise that they're the preferred picks!

Typically, the announcement for the Super Bowl halftime show arrives in September. As a result, we can anticipate its arrival any day now.

Let's remain hopeful for some country representation this year!
