Wiscasset Driver Narrowly Avoids Hitting Police Officers
A Wiscasset woman is facing multiple charges after nearly hitting several police officers with her vehicle.
Hannah Hewes refused to stop after allegedly crossing the center line and nearly hitting a Kennebec County Sheriff's cruiser Friday night. The deputy pursued her vehicle to a location near F&A Market, just after 11 p.m., where Officers Noah Stevens and Elizabeth Hart were finishing up a felony bail check. The officers' patrol vehicles were parked in the breakdown lane and both officers were standing by their vehicles getting ready to leave the area, when they heard a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. Officer Stevens did not have time to move as the vehicle narrowly missed him by a couple feet.
Thomaston Police joined the pursuit, which ended shortly thereafter. Hewes was taken into custody by Officer Stevens on multiple felony charges, including possession of heroin.
