A 64-year-old Winthrop man has been charged with arson and is accused of setting fire to his home for the second time.

Charles Reed set fire to his mobile home early Thursday morning, the State Fire Marshal's Office said in a news release Thursday afternoon.

The fire on Route 133 was reported around 2 a.m.

Winthrop firefighters, assisted by members of the Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association and the Monmouth Fire Department, had the blaze under control within an hour, the release said.

Reed was home at the time, but he was not hurt.

After investigators from the fire marshal's office arrived on the scene, Reed was arrested for arson and violation of conditions of release.

Reed was arrested for arson for setting fire to his mobile home on Blue Road in Monmouth in May 2014.

Reed was transported to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta.
