A Call for An Erratic Driver Ended When the Police Cruiser Was Hit
It was just before 8:30 Sunday night when Westbrook Police got a report of an erratic driver on Stroudwater Street, heading towards William Clarke Drive. Two officers were in a cruiser near Hannaford when they got the call and so they drove westbound on William Clarke Drive towards Stroudwater. There, they found the suspect vehicle driving the wrong-way in the westbound lanes of William Clarke Drive, heading towards them.
The officers turned on their emergency lights, but the driver didn't stop and crashed into them. Luckily, the push bumper on the cruiser absorbed the hit, and the officers weren't injured. They took McGovern into custody and transported him to the Cumberland County Jail.
