If you are in Piscataquis County and your cupboards are bare, today is your day. Piscataquis Regional Food Center will be organizing a 'Truck to Trunk' event at the Piscataquis Country Ice Arena between 1 and 3 p.m. today. No need to get there ahead of time, just show up between 1 and 3 and you'll get a box of food. The food bank will also be distributing locally grown fruits and vegetables.

The Farm to Family Food Box Programs was set up by the U.S.D.A. to help feed people out of work and to help the food industry and the growers that grow for them move their products. It has been a very successful program to say the least.

Pineland Farms of Mars Hill, Maine has been assembling the boxes and distributing them to food banks and through community "truck to trunk" events around the state. What better than having the food go directly into the hands of those who need it.

Drive up, stay in your car and volunteers with masks and gloves will put the food into your trunk for you. Good idea to clean out your trunk before you go.

Steve Grammont of the Piscataquis Regional Food Center said, "The Pineland Farms boxes will have a half gallon of 2% milk, 2.5 pounds of Pineland cheddar cheese, which is really good, and 6 pounds of Pineland mashed potatoes"

Isn't it great when community comes together and all involved contribute to such a worthy and great cause. Thank you in advance.
