Honestly, I'm so jealous.

I remember the first time I saw Star Wars, it was playing at what is now the Penobscot Theater/Bangor Opera House. In fact, I believe I saw all three of them there. I also saw Black Hole, Clash of the Titans, and Karate Kid. It was one of the movie hot spots. The mall cinemas hadn't been built yet. So it was Brewer or the Opera House.

But like most 6- or 7-year-olds, Star Wars pretty much changed my life. At that age, it was my first experience of seeing "my" movie. As opposed to whatever I got dragged along to see with my family. I pretty much wanted to throw out all my other toys and get Star Wars figures and playsets.

And now, Star Wars is being turned into an actual class.

I discovered through Reddit, that York Adult Education is offering a class, that dang near made my head explode with jealousy. They're offering an honest-to-god Star wars class this fall. Up here, we get offered things like knitting, and how to use Excel. York Adult Ed has it going on, as far as I'm concerned.

This isn't all about sitting and watching Star Wars movies. In fact, they suggest that the watching part is the "homework". Oh lord... What a hardship! In class, there will deep discussions about its influence on pop culture, the films themselves, and how all the stories connect. It sounds like no stone will be left unturned.

The only part that completely squashes my excitement is obvious.... I can't go take the class, as York is a solid three hours from here. Maybe two hours and fifteen minutes with the way I tend to drive. If only they offered the class virtually!!! I'd sign up in a red hot minute. On the other hand... I could think of worse reasons for a weekly road trip...
