Needed rain is expected for much of Maine Friday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a wet end to the work-week. Forecasters are calling for a weather system to bring a soaking rain to the state Friday. Much of the region will see over an inch of rain. Bangor north to Millinocket will likely see over an inch of rain, with Downeast and far northern areas seeing less rainfall.

Forecasters expect the rain to taper off by Friday night. A few snow showers may mix in with the rain tonight across the north, but little to no accumulation is expected.

The weekend forecast features plenty of sun, Saturday and Sunday, with highs near 60.
