Silver Alert Canceled: 2 Missing Elderly Men Found Alive

Police say two men in their 70's missing since Tuesday have been found alive.

Two Missing Men Were Located Alive by the Maine Warden Service

Sidney Hoyt, 77, and Gary Foster, both of Bangor, were found Wednesday off the Studmill Road. The Maine Warden Service located the men who were alive, but were taken to a local hospital to be treated for exposure.

At around 5:30 Wednesday evening, local resident Steven Lion had gone outside to get something when he heard yelling from beyond Sunkhaze Stream that borders his property. Sunkhaze and his wife Shannon operate Sunkhaze Blueberry Farm on the Horseback Road in Township 32. Knowing there were two missing men in the area, the couple called 911.

 Game Warden Jonathan Parker was searching nearby and was able to drive to the area east of the blueberry farm off the 2300 Road, where he located the Honda Ridgeline. Inside the truck, Parker found Gary Foster, hypothermic but alert and able to talk. Parker put Foster in his truck to warm up then followed a path for nearly a half mile and found Sidney Hoyt. Officials say Hoyt had gotten out of the vehicle and was trying to go for help. He was also hypothermic when found but was still able to walk. The pair headed back to Parker's truck, where Hoyt joined Foster in warming up.

Officials Say the Men Were Last Seen in a White Honda Ridgeline

The Maine Warden Service reported Mr. Hoyt picked up Mr. Foster at the Maine Veteran's Home on Hogan Road in Bangor a little after 11:00 Tuesday morning, with plans to ride on the Stud Mill Road in a white 2008 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck with Maine registration 7319GX. The pair were supposed to return to the Veterans Home by 5:00 Tuesday night, but they didn't return as planned.

The men didn't have a cellphone so the police weren't able to track them that way. Members of the Maine Warden Service, Maine Forest Service, Bangor and Maine State Police Departments all took part in the search. The Stud Mill Road stretches from Milford to Princeton.

Again, both of the men were located, alive, off the Stud Mill Road by the Maine Warden service. They were taken to a local hospital to be treated for exposure.
