A Woman Was Shot at the Arrest Site of a Biddeford Murder Suspect
Maine State Police say a woman was critically injured at the same address where a Saco man was arrested for a shooting in Biddeford.
Who Was Arrested?
Lorenze A. Labonte, 25, of Saco, was arrested on Monday by Maine State Police at his home on Temple Street. WGME-TV reports a woman was shot and critically injured at the same Temple Street address where Labonte was taken into custody. So far, there's no word on whether Labonte was involved in that shooting. The suspect has a long criminal history, including charges of domestic violence assault.
What Do We Know About the Victim?
It was just after 2:00 Friday afternoon, November 24th, when Biddeford Police were called to an apartment on State Street for a report of a person who had been shot. When officers got to the address, they found a man who had died from his injuries. That man has since been identified as Ahmed Sharif, 27, of Lewiston.
Maine State Police were called to the scene to aid in the investigation, while Sharif's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy. That examination confirmed his identity and that his death was a homicide.
Did the Two Men Know Each Other?
So far, there's no word about whether the two men knew each other, or what they were doing in the Biddeford apartment. Sharif is charged with murder and is expected to make his first court appearance today.
Police say this was an isolated incident and are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to call the Augusta Regional Communications Center at 207-624-7076, extension 9.
