A juvenile is accused of firing shots and then pointing a gun at a group during a dispute with others.

Rockland, Maine Police Arrest a Juvenile During Social Media Dispute

The suspect's name has not been released, because they're a juvenile.

Rockland Police say it was approximately 9:00 on Halloween night when officers were called to the Rockland Public Restrooms on Tillson Avenue for a report of shots fired.

An investigation that included interviewing witnesses, collecting physical evidence, and reviewing surveillance video helped the police put together what had happened.

Rockland, Maine Police Say a Juvenile Allegedly Shot a Gun During a Dispute

Officials say that during a verbal confrontation between a juvenile and a young adult over social media posts, the juvenile displayed a firearm.  The juvenile then allegedly fired a shot in the air before pointing it at the adult and approximately 10 others who were at the scene.

According to the police, the offending juvenile then fired several more shots while near the Water Treatment Plant. No one was hurt during the incident.

Rockland, Maine, Juvenile Faces Multiple Charges After Armed Confrontation

On Monday, November 3rd, Rockland Police took the juvenile into custody without incident.

The juvenile is charged with:

  • Felony reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon
  • Felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon
  • Unlawful concealment of a firearm
  • Discharge of a firearm leass then 100 yards from a dwelling.

Police transported the juvenile to the Long Creek Youth Development Center.
