They Resisted Police Before Becoming Unconscious and Needing Naloxone
Officers arrived on the scene and took the subject into protective custody, despite some resistance. The suspect allegedly tried to kick the officers before becoming unconscious. Rockland Police Officers administered several doses of the opioid overdose reversal drug, Naloxone (Narcan), before the person regained consciousness and then again became combative. Once the individual was subdued, members of the Rockland Fire & EMS Department transported the suspect to Pen Bay Medical Center for treatment.
The DA Will Now Determine Whether Any Charges Will Be Filed
The case is now in the hands of the District Attorney's office to determine whether any criminal charges will be filed related to the damage done to the vehicle. The name of the suspect was not released. Maine's Good Samaritan Law prevents a person from being arrested or prosecuted for certain violations if the grounds for that arrest or prosecution result from the person experiencing a drug-related overdose or seeking medical assistance for someone else who is.
