Portland Police Say a Pedestrian was Hit and Killed by a Vehicle

A 68-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in Portland.

The Portland Police report the accident happened just before 1:30 Sunday morning, in the area of 555 Commercial street. A 68-year-old man was walking when he was fatally struck by a vehicle being driven by a 51-year-old Livermore Falls resident. The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. No names are being released until the family can be notified.

So far, police say no charges have been filed. Officials are hoping to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information pertaining to the incident.
