Take Our Poll: Do Prefer Wood Heat Or Oil In This Frigid Weather?

Not to sway anyone's answer, but my stove's been running non-stop.

It's true. Almost as soon as I got out of bed yesterday, the wood stove got started. I've been feeding it like a monster since Monday afternoon. And I'm double lucky, because I have two. Our finished basement has a wood stove as well. It's a pretty awesome feeling knowing I can heat the whole damn house if I need to.

But I also know among Mainers, in most cases, wood is the preferred heat source. It's pretty cheap, and like my grandfather used to say... wood heats you up three times: When you cut it, when you stack it, and when you burn it. So really, it is the ultimate value. Except, the first two times always happen when it's warm, so I might not love that part.

But it's time to settle this answer once and for all....

Take our poll and let us know how you prefer to do it. This is your time to shine. Especially if you've got some magical heat source none of us know about. Maybe you take a blow torch and heat up rocks, I don't know... But by the end, we will know who is victorious on this subject.

Although, in my heart of hearts, I believe most people who don't own wood stoves, are simply just people who wish they owned wood stoves. But on Friday, we'll get our answer, and then be nothing but the tackiest of winners during our victory lap.
