I used to love going to the gym.

I still enjoy a good workout, although you wouldn't know it by looking at me right now. The only reason I stopped was when my wife and I moved out to the boonies. A trip to the gym and back for me, would be longer than the time I actually spent working out, because of where I live. But exercise never stops feeling good.

I was even all about it in high school, but it slowed down for me when practicing drums took a higher priority. These days, I have all the necessary equipment in my house and have found a balance between workouts and practices, but there's a vibe you get in the gym you don't get at home.

High school students these days could certainly benefit from the gym.

Not to say they're all out of shape, but there's also a strong correlation between exercise and mental fitness as well. This pandemic has been rough on everybody, but especially the youth in a lot of ways. So Planet Fitness has devised a plan to help on all these fronts, according to WGME.

Planet Fitness is offering free memberships to high school kids for the summer. Starting on May 16, and going through August 31, students can register at the website, download the app, and get hooked up to go for free. It will hopefully inspire a lot of folks to think differently about all aspects of their health.

If it's something you or your child is interested in, you can follow this link right here, and it will take you to all the info you'll need to get going. In the Bangor area, there's a Planet Fitness in the Broadway Shopping Center, just a little ways down from Hannaford.
