Maine Fireman was Found Dead on the Track at Pittsfield School
A deceased person found on the track at Maine Central Institute has been identified as a Pittsfield Firefighter.
Have They Identified the Firefighter?
Zach Noble of Pittsfield graduated from Maine Central Institute in 2015. He was a firefighter with the Pittsfield Fire Department and also worked as an EMT with Unity Ambulance.
When Did This Happen?
An ambulance was called to the Pittsfield school at around 6:30 Tuesday morning after a body was found on the track. When crews arrived, they attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful. Officials say it's believed he suffered a medical event while on the track.
What Does Til Valhalla mean?
A post on the Pittsfield Fire Department's Facebook page shows an American flag draped over Noble's gear. The post has two words: 'Til Valhalla.' The phrase refers to Norse Mythology and is a sign of respect for fallen heroes that we will meet again one day.
Unity Ambulance also posted on Facebook, expressing how difficult it is to find the right words.
This is tragic and heartbreaking news to share and we are all trying to process this. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues in this extremely difficult time.
We add our deepest condolences to Zach's family, friends, and members of the public safety community.
