
Maine Woman Gets 15 Years for Trafficking 1.5 Kilograms of Meth
A woman from Peru, Maine is sentenced to 15 years in prison for a number of sales of methamphetamine to undercover officers.
Maine Woman Sentenced for Trafficking in Methamphetamine
Mandy Lynn Shorey, 43, of Peru received the sentence in a Portland courtroom for trafficking methamphetamine and for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The 15 year prison sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release.
Peru Woman Sold Meth to Undercover Officers Four Times
According to the U.S. Attorneys Office, District of Maine, Shorey sold approximately 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine to an undercover officers across four controlled busy between July 2022 and January 2023. For three of those buys, the purity of the methamphetamine Shorey sold to the police approached 100%.
Shorey Told the Officers She Carried Firearms for Protection
During one of those busy, Shorey explained that she carried a firearm for her protection when she met with new drug customers. She then removed the firearm from the bag and placed it in her waistband. During another exchange, she told the undercover officers that meeting her to conduct their next transaction would be safe because she would "bring one armed man to back me up that they will never see, just in case."
When Shorey was arrested, she was in possession of a Charter Arms .22 revolver.
