Crews From Multiple Towns Braved the Cold to Extinguish an Orrington House Fire
It was a frigid night, with temperatures in the single numbers, but fire crews battled a house fire. The blaze at 988 Brewer Lake Road was called in Thursday night and crews dealt with flames, smoke, and ice while they worked. Mutual aid responded from several neighboring communities to help extinguish the fire.

Finding Accessible Water Was Challenging But Firefighters Adapted
Orrington Fire Chief Scott Stewart told WVII-TV that initially the crews were inside, dealing with fire in the basement, on the first floor, and extending into the attic. The operation had to be moved outside, however, when they realized that the floor was giving way. Witness said crews were seen drilling holes in the lake ice to access water to battle the blaze.
No One Was Hurt in the Orrington House Fire
Stewart says no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The State Fire Marshal's Office will began an investigation Friday into what caused the fire.
