A committee was formed a couple of years ago to study what is needed for the fire department in a more modern building.

The Orland Voters recently approved borrowing up to $4 million for the construction of the new fire station.

John Barlow is the chairman of the Orland Fire Station Building Committee, and he told the Ellsworth American

A project like this is a big deal for a small town like Orland,” Barlow said. “I’m sure people have questions. But I think the committee has done careful work in thinking through the best solution, and with costs going up, it’s time to act. Orland residents have always been willing to step up and support town projects when there is a genuine need like this.

Construction for the new building is expected to begin this summer, with completion expected by summer 2024.

From someone who drives through Orland often, here is a request.

Please move this sign to the new location. Or leave it right where it is for all of us to continue to see. Old school.
