Old Town Police Charge 2 with Aggravated Drug Trafficking
A search prompted by an outstanding warrant in Old Town resulted in two arrests and the seizure of multiple drugs.
Who Was Arrested?
The two people who face charges in connection with this investigation are Old Town residents Brandy Mylen, age 38, and Edward Janak, age 48.
Why Were Police at the Apartment?
Old Town Deputy Police Chief Lee Miller says Officers went to a home at 5 South Spring Street on Wednesday to serve a search warrant. Officials were looking for Brandy Mylen who they believed was living at the residence and had outstanding warrants. When police entered the home, they found Mylen, as well as Janak inside. Mylen was arrested on the outstanding warrants for failure to appear, and was also charged with violation of conditions of release.
What Drugs Were Seized?
During the initial search for Mylen, Old Town Police Officers noticed drug paraphernalia that was sitting out in plain view and so they requested a second search warrant to look for drugs. A search of the apartment resulted in the seizure of the following substances:
- 1,253 Gabapentin pills
- 14 grams of Fentanyl
- 29 grams of methamphetamine
- Small quantities of other drugs not identified by authorities
As a result of this search, Mylen was additionally charged on Thursday with aggravated trafficking of drugs, which is a class A crime. Officials say a warrant for Janak will also be issued for aggravated trafficking of drugs in the coming days.
Old Town Police were assisted in this investigation by the Old Town Fire Department and a K-9 unit from the Bangor Police Department.
