Forecasters are amending their forecast and are now predicting up to 9 inches of snow in parts of Maine.

The National Weather Service in Caribou had predicted potentially record setting snowfall in parts of Maine overnight into Wednesday. To the north, 8-to-12 inches of snow were expected. The Bangor area will see one-to-three inches of snow.

On Tuesday afternoon, the weather service updated its forecast. It is now predicting the heaviest snowfall of between 4-8" from roughly Houlton to Greenville.

Caribou could set a record for 1-day snow this early. The current record stands at  6.1 inches.
