While much of Maine will only see rain, northern areas could see the first flakes of the season late week.

The National Weather Service is forecasting potential snow for northern Maine this week. Meteorologists say temps may be cold enough Thursday night and into Friday for wet snow from the Katahdin region northward. Higher terrain could see minor snow accumulations.

Bangor and Downeast areas will likely see only rain Thursday night and into Friday.
