People who regularly use the Northern Light Pharmacy on State Street in Bangor will eventually see a change in location, but it's just a few doors down.

The Location Has Been a Pharmacy Since the Late 1950's When the Millers Opened It

Northern Light took over the building at 210 State Street in 2018 that had previously housed Miller's Drug, which opened in 1957. Now, it's about to be empty as Northern Light moves its pharmacy a little closer to the hospital. The pharmacy will soon be located in a new building on the corner of State and Otis Streets.

Northern Light Health Officials Say the New Store Will Have Many Advantages

Matt Marston, PharmD, who is the vice-president and Chief pharmacy officer at Northern Light says they're all excited for the new location that will open later next year.

While our current location has served us well, our new location will allow for more convenient parking, enhancements to the prescription pick-up drive-through, as well as more private spaces for patient consultation.

He says the new facility will allow for a more efficient workflow and revitalized environment for their patients. Their current specialized services will also transfer, including compounding, prescription home delivery, and their bedside medication delivery programs for patients being discharged from the hospital.

There's No Opening Date Set, At This Point

So far, Northern Light leaders don't have an exact date of when the new pharmacy will open, but are expecting to break ground this winter. Speculation can begin now about what the next business will be to occupy a location that's been a pharmacy for nearly 67 years.
