North Carolina Teen Accused of Road Rage Stabbing Caught in Maine
A woman who's been on the run from charges connected to a road rage incident in North Carolina since November is now in custody in Maine.
Who Is the Fugitive?
19-year-old Alyalia Chaibounmingkhouan, of Raleigh, North Carolina has been wanted by police since November 7, 2023. She was arrested on Thursday in Lewiston.
Why Were the Police Looking For Her?
Chaibounmingkhouan was arrested in Maine for being a fugitive from justice, with an outstanding warrant from North Carolina for the following charges:
- 1 count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill
- 3 counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
At last report, she was incarcerated at the Androscoggin County Jail, awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
What Happened That Prompted These Charges?
The charges stem from a road rage incident in North Carolina in November. According to the Sun Journal, Chaibounmingkhouan allegedly stabbed a man several times while he was fighting with her boyfriend.
The U.S. Marshals Service contacted Maine authorities after learning that Chaibounmingkhouan might be in the Lewiston, Maine area. Members of the Maine Violent Offender Task Force were able to locate her in a home on Blake Street and take her into custody.
