Last Week of Fall and Still No Snow in Bangor
First day of winter is next Wednesday. So this is the last week of fall.
Wednesday the 21st is the winter solstice, meaning it’ll be the longest day of the year.
And although we're over our milder temperatures from a week ago, and are now having seasonable temperatures, we are still waiting for snow in the Bangor area. Some anxiously. Some not so much.
December will be half over by this Friday.
The Greater Bangor area, in the month of December usually gets 14.7 inches of snow we certainly still have time but the first one third of the month has brought us nada.
And looking at the ten day forecast there's a chance for snow on Friday this week, but the expected high is 38, so that’s not ideal for snow lovers. And rain is in the forecast for Saturday, but this far away things can change and often do.
It sure doesn't look like that's the storm forecast that's known lovers are looking for. I'm no expert but it doesn't look like it's going to be much of anything
So it's time to sing along with Bing Crosby and I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
That was the biggest selling Christmas song of all time and won the Academy Award for Best Song of 1942 as it was in the movie Holiday Inn
Here's a chance to win some of your coworkers money. The Holiday Inn hotel chain took its name from that movie for your first true or false question and when White Christmas won the Academy Award the presenter at the ceremony was Irving Berlin. He presented the award to... Himself. Saying
I'm glad to present the award. I've known him for a long time.
The moral of the snow story we'll get snow when Mother Nature decides on the schedule. Not before. Not after. But it is beginning to feel a little like something is out of whack.
