As winter begins to fade away, an icy destination has closed for the season.

The New Hampshire Ice Castle has officially closed for the season. The winter destination typically closes suddenly, when ice conditions within the castle begins to deteriorate. With mild temps in the forecast this week, it's likely the castle will begin to melt away in the coming days.

This year's castle featured massive turrets, archways, tunnels, ice thrones, ice slides and fountains that glow with colored LED lights frozen into the ice. According to NBC Boston, organizers are added a quarter-mile magical forest walk, and a sledding hill. The added attractions were designed to encourage social distancing.

The New Hampshire Ice Castle opened for the season back in January.
