Lewiston Police have arrested two men wanted in other states on murder charges.

Do the Suspects Face Charges in Maine?

The arrests were announced this week on the Lewiston Police Department's Facebook page, but both men were arrested in August. One man was wanted in Vermont and the other in New York. Both face charges in Maine, including being fugitives from justice.

What Happened in the Vermont Case?

It was on August 10th when Lewiston Police received a tip that Zaquikon Roy, 35, was in the city, hiding from Vermont Police. He had a warrant out for his arrest in that state on murder charges. Officials located Roy and took him into custody.  At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly found to be in possession of 10 grams of crack cocaine. In addition, police allegedly found a firearm in his apartment, which he is prohibited from having due to previous criminal convictions.

According to WCAX-TV, Roy is accused of killing a man in Vermont after a drug deal gone bad. Roy allegedly met with two men to buy drugs, but the amount was less than expected. Later that night, both men were shot, one of them fatally.

How About the New York Case?

Lewiston Police have also been helping with a separate case, involving a fugitive from New York. On August 2nd, Jonathan Glennon, 31, was arrested during an investigation into a criminal trespass complaint. At the time, he was charged with violation of conditions of release and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. He was held at the Androscoggin County Jail and, on August 17th, was charged by Lewiston Police with being a fugitive from justice. The fugitive charge stemmed from a warrant charging him with murder issued by the state of New York.

Glennon is one of ten people arrested for the kidnapping of a man named Thomas Rath. According to the Ithaca Times, Rath had been living in a homeless encampment when he went missing. After an extensive search, his remains were found in Tioga, New York in a shallow grave. Two of the ten suspects were charged with murder, including Glennon.
