Motorcyclists Survive Collision With Moose
Two Florida residents in Southern Maine were lucky when they survived a collision with a moose.
State Police say the accident happened at around 2:43 Monday afternoon on U.S. Route 2 in North Yarmouth Academy Grant. A couple from Eustis, Florida was traveling soutbound on their Harley Davidson motorcycle when a moose ran into the roadway in front of them.
The motorcycle struck the moose and then went onto its side, skidding into the northbound lane before coming to rest. 56-year-old Paul Duel and his passenger, 47-year-old Lisa Ann Lotti, were taken to the Penobscot Valley Hospital before being transported to EMMC in Bangor. Both are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the moose ran off into the woods.
