
Moped Hit By a Pickup In Augusta, 17-year-old Killed
A 17-year-old man has died of his injuries after his moped was hit by a pickup truck in Augusta.

The victim's identity has not been released but officials say he is from Augusta. Police say Benjamin Perry 47, of Farmingdale, was driving the pickup truck.
The Crash Happened Near the Rusty Lantern Store
Just after 3:00 on Tuesday, Augusta Police responded to a crash in front of the Rusty Lantern at 670 Civic Center Drive. When the officers arrived they found a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a moped. The 17-year-old male operator of the moped had suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by Augusta Rescue to Maine General Medical Center, where he later died. The pickup's driver, Benjamin Perry, was not hurt in the crash.
Augusta Police Hope to Hear From Anyone Who Saw the Crash
An initial investigation of the crash indicates that the pickup truck was traveling southbound on Civic Center Drive when it hit the moped, which was attempting to turn left from Civic Center Drive into the store's parking lot. The crash remains under investigation by the Augusta Police Department, with help from Maine State Police.
