The work week starts off with a slick evening commute Monday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting light snow for the Bangor area, Monday afternoon into the overnight hours. The storm will likely only amount to a couple inches of new snowfall for the Bangor area. Coastal areas will see less snowfall, as snow is expected to mix with rain at times.

Forecasters say the heaviest snow accumulations will be across interior Hancock County, east into central and northern Washington County. The area could pick up 3 to 5 inches of new snowfall.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday look to be the mildest days of the month so far. Forecasters expect highs well into the 30s, with some lower 40s possible Downeast. The heat wave doesn't last, as cooler air paired with a gusty wind filters back across the state Thursday and Friday.
