A man from western Maine is facing charges after a 9-month-old baby overdosed on opioids.
The Suspect is Charged with Drug Trafficking, Among Other Offenses
Timothy Child, 28, of Dixfield is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful trafficking in a Schedule W drug, and violating conditions of release.
Health Officials Reportedly Gave the Chld Multiple Doses of NARCAN
Crews were called to a home on Roxbury Road in Mexico on Monday to help a 9-month-old girl, who was unresponsive. Deputies say the child was turning blue and having trouble breathing, so she was transported to Rumford Hospital, where she was given multiple doses of NARCAN, an opioid overdose reversal drug. The child was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Toxicology tests confirmed that the girl tested positive for cocaine, and marijuana, and was suffering from an opioid overdose.
Deputies Found Cocaine in the Home
WGME-TV reports 60 grams of cocaine were found when Oxford County Sheriff's Deputies searched the Roxbury Road home. When the search was completed, Mr. Child was taken into custody. Officials say he was out on bail when he was arrested.
