An Easton man was killed in Aroostook County when his motorcycle collided with a car.

The Motorcycle Operator Died of His Injuries

Lance Kierstead, 50, of Easton died as the result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Police Say the Sedan's Driver Sustained Minor Injuries

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says State Police responded to West Ridge Road in Mars Hill just after 1:00 Thursday afternoon and found a motorcycle and a Chevrolet Malibu. Kierstead, who had been riding the Harley Davidson, sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was transported to Northern Light AR Gould Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The driver of the sedan, Jamie Avery, 42, of Easton was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials Say the Two Vehicles Met at a Curve in the Road

An initial investigation by the Maine State Police indicates the motorcycle was traveling north, while the sedan was traveling south. The two vehicles met at a curve in the road and collided. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
